Gingivitis, the inflammation of the gums, is an early gum infection, which can have an immediate negative influence on oral and general health.

This particular inflammation results in redness, swelling and bleeding of the soft tissues surrounding the teeth, especially during brushing and flossing, mastication and is sometimes even spontaneous.

Gingivitis is completely treatable and when diagnosed and confronted properly, its results can be reversed and the gums can return to their natural state.

Gingivitis is most caused by the concentration of dental plaque, a bacterial membrane developing on the gums and teeth of the patient as a result of poor oral and dental health and insufficient cleaning.

The prevention of gingivitis is possible through bi-annual routine cleanings at the dentist, and basic daily dental care (daily brushing and flossing).
