The soft tissue lining of the oral cavity may show lesions, which have to be surgically removed.
One common example is leukoplakia and various other benign tumors that may develop in the mucous membrane of the oral cavity, the palate, and the tongue.
Soft tissue lesion removal must always be followed by biopsy and histologic examination of the removed tissue.
The use of lasers renders soft tissue removal a short, bloodless procedure with no need for sutures and results in a better post-operative healing process.
